Teaching Assistant - SEMH

Location: Cambridge

Are you passionate about supporting children with additional social, emotional and mental health needs? We are working with a friendly and inclusive primary school in Cambridge that is looking to appoint a caring and committed Teaching Assistant to join their Enhanced Resource Base. This rewarding role involves supporting pupils who benefit from additional help with emotional regulation, behaviour and accessing learning. You'll play a key role in creating a safe, encouraging environment where children can build confidence, develop positive relationships and achieve their potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to pupils within the school's Enhanced Resource Base.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and help children develop effective emotional regulation strategies.
  • Build supportive, trusting relationships that promote confidence and engagement.
  • Assist pupils in accessing classroom learning and following daily routines.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and wider support staff to deliver individualised support.
  • Deliver both one-to-one and small group interventions as required.

About You

To Be Successful In This Role, You Should Have

  • Experience working with children who have SEMH needs, SEND or behaviours that require additional support.
  • A patient, resilient and nurturing approach.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • The ability to promote positive behaviour through consistency and encouragement.
  • A genuine commitment to helping children thrive both academically and emotionally.

Experience within an Enhanced Resource Base, specialist provision or SEMH setting would be advantageous, although applicants with relevant transferable experience are also encouraged to apply.
