About the Role
Our client, a renowned educational institution in the heart of Norwich, is currently seeking a skilled and experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their dynamic and supportive team. In this pivotal role, you will have the opportunity to work alongside a dedicated group of professionals, collaborating to create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment that empowers students with SEMH needs to thrive and reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive support to students, catering to their individual needs and helping them overcome the unique challenges they may face
- Assist with lesson planning and delivery
- Implement tailored behavioural strategies
- Offer one-to-one or small group support to ensure each student receives the personalised attention they deserve
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to students' progress, behaviour, and well-being
- Assist with the preparation and organisation of the learning environment, ensuring it is safe, stimulating, and conducive to student success
- Participate in professional development opportunities and training to continuously expand your skills and knowledge
- Foster positive relationships with students, parents/carers, and colleagues, promoting a supportive and inclusive school community

Requirements
- Relevant qualification in education, SEMH, or a related field (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, BTEC in Children's Care, Learning and Development)
- Experience working with children or young people who have SEMH needs, either in a school setting or a similar educational environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and work effectively with students, teachers, and parents/carers
- Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to implement tailored strategies to support students' social, emotional, and mental well-being
- Adaptability and the capacity to respond effectively to the changing needs of students
- Commitment to promoting the inclusion and academic progress of all students in your care
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation
- A valid Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate, or the willingness to obtain one
