Full time/Part time: Full time

Pay: £102-£115 per day

Start date: September 2026

Expected End date: End of the academic year

Hours: 8:30am-3:30pm


A welcoming and supportive school is seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team from September on a long-term, ongoing basis until the end of the academic year.

The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning and develop the confidence, emotional regulation and skills needed to succeed in school.

You will work closely with teachers and the wider school team to provide consistent, nurturing and individualised support throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs
  • Supporting pupils to access and engage with classroom learning
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Supporting emotional regulation and helping pupils manage challenging emotions
  • Implementing appropriate behaviour management and support strategies
  • Encouraging positive behaviour, resilience and independence
  • Supporting pupils with their social and emotional development
  • Helping to maintain a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Supporting the implementation of individual behaviour and learning plans
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff and the wider school team

The Successful Applicant Will

  • Have experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEMH or educational setting
  • Be calm, patient, resilient and compassionate
  • Have a nurturing and non-judgemental approach
  • Be confident supporting pupils with challenging behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Have the ability to build strong and positive relationships with pupils
  • Be consistent and confident when implementing behaviour strategies
  • Be proactive and able to adapt to individual pupil needs
  • Have full-time availability from September
  • Hold a valid Child Workforce DBS or be willing to obtain one
  • Have the right to work in the UK
