Semi Senior Accountant
Northampton | £30,000 - £35,000 DOE
Trevor James Recruitment are currently working with a growing and forward-thinking accountancy practice in Northampton who are looking to appoint an experienced Semi Senior Accountant to join their team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant who has gained experience within practice and is looking for a role where they can continue developing technically, build strong client relationships and take the next step in their career.
The firm has developed a strong reputation for supporting ambitious business owners throughout their business journey. They work with growing businesses that are looking for more than traditional compliance support, providing a broad range of accounting, tax and advisory services.
The Role
As a Semi Senior Accountant, you will support a varied portfolio of clients across a range of accounting, management accounting and taxation services.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing statutory accounts and tax returns
- Preparing and reviewing VAT returns
- Preparing management accounts
- Supporting clients with their day-to-day accounting and tax requirements
- Building strong, long-term relationships with clients
- Communicating financial information clearly and providing a high level of client service
- Working closely with the wider team
- Supporting the training and development of junior members of staff

This is a full-time, office-based position in Northampton and would suit someone who enjoys working closely with clients and wants to be part of a smaller, collaborative team.
About You
We're looking for someone who has previous experience within an accountancy practice and is either studying towards ACA/ACCA or is qualified by experience.
You'll ideally have:
- Practice accountancy experience
- Experience preparing accounts and tax returns
- Experience preparing management accounts
- VAT experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good knowledge of accounting software, Excel and cloud-based systems
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
- The ability to manage your own workload and meet deadlines
- A team-focused approach and willingness to support junior colleagues
- A genuine commitment to delivering excellent client service
