Semi-Senior Accountant | Northampton | Cotton Group Practice
Cotton Group Practice is looking for a Semi-Senior Accountant to join our Northampton team.
This is a great opportunity for someone ready to move beyond task-based work and start building their own client relationships, technical expertise, and advisory skills.
What you'll be doing:
- Preparing statutory accounts for a varied client portfolio, ready for senior review
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns
- Preparing personal tax returns
- Bookkeeping across a range of clients
- Preparing management accounts
- Supporting senior staff on ad-hoc assignments and client work
- Mentoring and supporting trainee staff
- Liaising directly with clients to gather information and resolve queries

Where this role can take you:
This isn't a standing-still role. Over time you'll take on your own client relationships, greater responsibility for planning and delivering assignments, and a more advisory-focused role — backed by real investment in your technical development.
What we're looking for:
- AAT qualified, or studying towards ACA/ACCA (or equivalent)
- Solid grounding in accounts preparation and bookkeeping
- Experience with VAT and personal tax compliance
- Comfortable with accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage
- Strong attention to detail, organisation, and communication skills
- A team player who takes ownership of their work
