Role Description
The Semi Senior Accountant role is a part-time, on-site position based in Saffron Walden. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Preparing statutory accounts for sole traders and limited companies.
- Assisting with tax returns for individuals and businesses.
- Maintaining accurate bookkeeping records.
- Processing payroll.
- Reconciling accounts to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Liaising with clients to gather information.
- Explaining financial reports.
- Providing basic advice under the guidance of senior team members.

Additional tasks may include:
- Supporting the implementation of accounting software.
- Contributing to process improvements.
- Assisting colleagues during busy periods.
Qualifications
- Strong technical accounting skills, including preparation of accounts, bookkeeping, reconciliations, and basic tax computations.
- Experience with payroll processing and familiarity with relevant UK tax and payroll regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software and cloud-based tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or similar), plus good Excel skills.
- Effective communication and client service skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly and build positive relationships.
- Good organizational and time-management abilities, including managing multiple client deadlines and maintaining accurate records.
- Relevant accounting qualifications or progress toward ACCA, ACA, AAT, or equivalent, and experience in a practice environment is highly beneficial.
- Attention to detail, integrity, and a collaborative working style suited to a small, client-focused team.
