Accounts Semi Senior
Location: Buxton Area
Salary: £28,000 – £35,000 + Study Support & Career Progression
Are you an ambitious AAT qualified or ACA/ACCA part-qualified accountant looking for a supportive regional practice where you can take ownership of client files, expand your technical accounts and tax knowledge, and fast-track your route to Senior level?
Our client is a well-established, highly regarded accountancy firm based in Buxton. Experiencing continued growth across their client base, they are seeking a proactive Accounts Semi Senior to join their collaborative team.
The Opportunity
In this dynamic, fee-earning role, you will take direct responsibility for preparing statutory accounts and tax computations for a diverse portfolio of SMEs, sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies. Working closely with Portfolio Managers, you will act as a key liaison for clients, manage end-to-end file preparation, and assist in mentoring junior trainees. This position offers a structured personal development plan alongside full study support to help you achieve your professional accounting qualifications.

Key Responsibilities & Requirements
Experience & Qualifications
- 2+ years’ UK accountancy practice experience in a dedicated accounts preparation role.
- AAT qualified/studying or ACA/ACCA part-qualified (Qualified by Experience - QBE with relevant practice background also welcome).
Accounts & Tax Preparation
- Proven ability to prepare statutory financial statements, working paper files, corporate tax computations, and quarterly VAT returns in compliance with UK GAAP.
Software Proficiency
- Strong technical capabilities with cloud accounting platforms (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) and intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills.
Client Engagement & Mentoring
- Professional, confident communication style with experience liaising directly with client directors to gather records and resolve queries.
- Ability to assist and informally guide junior trainees.
Organisational Skills
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines across a varied client portfolio.
