Semi-Senior Accountant | Full Time, Permanent | High Wycombe

Sheridan Maine is delighted to be working with an established accounting firm based in the High Wycombe area, which is looking to recruit an experienced Semi-Senior Accountant to join its growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious practice accountant looking to develop their experience and progress their career within a supportive accountancy environment. The role will offer exposure to a varied portfolio of clients and a broad range of accounting and tax work.

The Role

Working closely with the wider team, you will support the delivery of accounting and compliance services to a diverse client base, while developing your technical knowledge and client-facing skills.

Your Key Responsibilities As a Semi-Senior Accountant Will Include

  • Preparing statutory and management accounts for a range of clients.
  • Assisting with the preparation of corporation tax and personal tax returns.
  • Supporting the preparation and submission of VAT returns.
  • Maintaining accurate accounting records and assisting with general bookkeeping duties.
  • Liaising with clients to obtain information and resolve accounting queries.
  • Supporting more senior members of the team with client accounts and tax work.
  • Assisting with accounts and tax assignments from initial preparation through to completion.
  • Developing strong relationships with clients and providing a professional and responsive service.
  • Working to ensure all client work is completed accurately and within relevant deadlines.
  • Supporting the wider team with ad hoc accounting tasks and client requirements.

The successful Semi-Senior Accountant will ideally have:

  • 2 years' experience working within a UK accountancy practice.
  • Experience preparing accounts for a variety of clients.
  • Some experience with corporation tax, personal tax and VAT.
  • Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing with clients.
  • A proactive attitude and genuine desire to develop a career within accountancy practice.
  • Ideally, be AAT qualified or part-qualified ACA/ACCA, or currently studying towards a relevant qualification.
  • Experience with accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or similar would be advantageous.
