Semi-Senior Accountant

Location: Droitwich

Salary: Circa £30,000 depending on experience

Job Type: Permanent

Working Hours: Monday to Thursday, 9:00am–5:30pm, Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm

Coats Recruitment are working with a specialist accountancy practice based in Droitwich who are looking to appoint an experienced Semi-Senior Accountant to join their growing team.

The practice provides a wide range of accounting and tax services to a varied portfolio of clients, offering a professional and supportive working environment with opportunities for development and progression. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounts professional looking to develop their skills, take on greater responsibility and progress their career within a growing practice.

The Role

The successful candidate will manage a varied portfolio of clients and be responsible for preparing and reviewing a range of accounting and tax work.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing year-end accounts for Sole Traders and Limited Companies
  • Reviewing and preparing accounts and accounting records
  • Preparing working papers and maintaining accurate financial records
  • Preparing and reviewing VAT returns
  • Assisting with Self Assessment and Corporation Tax Returns
  • Preparing monthly and annual financial information
  • Reviewing client bookkeeping and making necessary adjustments
  • Posting and reviewing journals, accruals and prepayments
  • Preparing financial information for clients
  • Liaising directly with clients and responding to accounting and tax queries
  • Supporting clients with accounting, tax and regulatory requirements
  • Working closely with senior management to ensure deadlines are met
  • Supporting and reviewing the work of more junior members of the team where appropriate
  • Taking on increased responsibility as your knowledge and experience develops

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum AAT Level 3 or equivalent
  • At least 2 years' experience within an accountancy practice
  • Experience preparing accounts for Sole Traders and Limited Companies
  • Good understanding of bookkeeping, VAT and general taxation
  • Experience preparing and reviewing accounts
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to manage your own workload and work to deadlines
  • Confident communication skills and the ability to deal directly with clients
  • A professional and reliable approach

  • Experience using Xero
  • Previous experience supporting or mentoring junior members of a team
