About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join a firm that specialises in start-ups and property, working across multiple industries with clients all over the country.
We are a team of 5 based in Ancoats, Manchester looking to hire a friendly candidate looking to further develop their career in a growing practice.
The right candidate will have two years’ experience working in a general practice environment dealing with limited company accounts, company tax returns, personal tax returns, and other ad hoc responsibilities.
We believe in building essential skills so full training and study support will be provided where necessary.
Responsibilities
- Managing their own portfolio of clients
- Preparation of limited company accounts, partnerships, and sole traders
- Preparation of tax returns, including company and self-assessments
- Preparation of quarterly returns including VAT Returns and MTDSA
- Potential for other areas of accountancy – R&D claims, independent examinations, management accounts
- Ad hoc responsibilities
- Training junior members of staff

You will have a crucial role at SQK Accountancy being an important member of the team diving into various responsibilities from day one. Your role will contribute towards the success of the team as we have a fast-learning approach.
Essential Requirements
- 2 years’ experience working in a general practice environment
- Experience in the full completion of limited company accounts, including all essential reconciliations
- Experience with calculating corporation tax provisions
- Experience working with accountancy software such as Xero

Preferred but Not Essential Requirements
- Level 3 AAT or equivalent
- Knowledge of Taxcalc
- Experience managing their own independent client portfolio
