The Opportunity
We are looking for an ambitious and motivated Accounts Assistant / Semi-Senior Accountant to join our growing team.
This is a varied, hands-on role that offers exposure to all aspects of the accounts preparation process. You will work closely with the Directors and gain experience across a wide range of assignments, taking responsibility for client work from initial records through to the completion of financial statements.
This position would suit someone looking to develop their accounting career within a supportive environment where they can broaden their technical skills and work directly with clients.

Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of statutory financial statements for:
- Limited companies (FRS 102 1A and FRS 105)
- Sole traders
- Partnerships
- Trusts
- Preparation of working papers and supporting schedules.
- Bank and investment portfolio analysis.
- Drafting accounts from client records through to final review stage.
- Preparation of quarterly loan interest calculations.
- Preparation and submission of VAT returns.
- Assisting with cash flow forecasts, budgets and financial reporting.
- Companies House filings and general company secretarial duties.
- Responding to client queries in a professional and timely manner.
- Assisting Directors with ad hoc assignments and special projects.
- Supporting finance and lending applications through the preparation of financial information.
- Attending client meetings where appropriate and assisting with note-taking and follow-up actions.
- Ensuring compliance with the firm's Anti-Money Laundering (AML) procedures and regulatory requirements.
About You

We are looking for someone who is:
- Studying AAT, ACCA or ACA, or qualified by experience.
- Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple assignments.
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a small team.
- Confident communicating with clients and colleagues.
- Competent in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Keen to develop technical knowledge across a wide range of accounting assignments.
- Experienced with Xero and TaxCalc software (desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided).
Additional Requirements
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to client sites across the North West, North Wales, Shropshire and Derbyshire.
