Practice Accountant – Semi Senior / Senior
Lancaster | £35,000–£40,000 | Full-Time | Office Based
We’re recruiting for an experienced Practice Accountant / Accounts Semi Senior or Senior to join an established independent accountancy practice in Lancaster.
This is a broad, client-facing position offering exposure across accounts, tax and advisory work, with responsibility for managing your own portfolio of SME clients.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for:
- Preparing year-end and statutory accounts for a varied portfolio of clients
- Preparing personal and corporation tax returns
- VAT returns and associated compliance work
- Managing your own portfolio of clients
- Dealing directly with clients and responding to queries
- Attending client meetings and providing practical accounting and tax advice
- Reviewing work prepared by junior members of the team
- Supporting and developing junior staff
- Working with cloud accounting packages and helping clients improve their accounting processes

What We’re Looking For
You’ll ideally have:
- Previous experience working within a UK accountancy practice
- Around 4+ years' practice experience
- Experience preparing year-end accounts and tax returns
- Good knowledge of personal tax, corporation tax and VAT
- Experience dealing directly with clients
- Strong communication and organisational skills
The firm is flexible on qualification level and will consider candidates who are:
- AAT qualified
- ACA / ACCA part-qualified
- ACA / ACCA qualified
- Qualified by experience (QBE)

Location
This is an office-based position in Lancaster, so applicants should live within a reasonable commuting distance.
