Semi-Skilled Fitter

Location: Darwen

Job Type: Permanent, 37 hours per week, working a 4-day week over a 5-day operational week.

Hourly Rate: Competitive based on experience

Brookhouse Aerospace is a prominent name within the Aerospace Sector, providing Advanced Composite and Metal Components for Civil & Defence Aerospace applications. We are looking for a dedicated and detail-orientated Semi-Skilled Fitter to join our manufacturing team. This role is crucial in ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of safety and performance.

Job Description

As a Semi-Skilled Fitter, you will assist in the assembly, installation, and maintenance of aerospace components. This position requires a hands-on approach and a strong attention to detail to ensure that all tasks are completed to stringent specifications of the aerospace industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the assembly and fitting of aerospace components and structures according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks on tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Carry out routine inspections and quality checks on assembled parts to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Work closely with skilled fitters and engineers to complete tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • Follow safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Report any issues or defects identified during the fitting process to supervisors or quality control.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and product quality.

Requirements

  • Basic mechanical knowledge and experience with hand tools and power tools.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment, preferably in the aerospace industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills through on-the-job training.
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift moderate weights as required by the job.
