ScotRail is offering an exciting opportunity for you to join our flexible engineering team. Our four Maintenance Depots and In-Service Fleet Engineering (ISFE) team are strategically located across Scotland and are responsible for maintaining a diverse fleet of both diesel & electric trains to ensure they remain fully operational and provide a reliable service for our customers.

As a member of the Engineering Team at Inverness Depot, you will play a key role in delivering safe, reliable, and well-presented trains.

Your responsibilities as a Semi-Skilled Maintenance Team Member will include carrying out VMI (Vehicle Maintenance Inspection) and servicing tasks on rail vehicles, as well as undertaking labouring and cleaning duties under the direction of the Maintenance Team Leader. Shunting duties involved.

All responsibilities as a Semi-Skilled Maintenance Team Member will be carried out in compliance with local Safety & Quality Procedures.

  • Relevant skills and experience gained in a fast-paced production or operational engineering environment
  • Experience in completing and updating maintenance documentation
  • The ability to read, understand, and follow work instructions
  • Demonstrated experience in following safe working practices for you and your colleagues

Hours of work: 35-hour week. A rotating shift cycle, which involves day and night shift. Weekend working is compulsory.

Reference Salary: £49,294 per annum on completion of training, training salary £44,379 per annum.

Selection Process

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to complete a safety critical assessment. Successful candidates will then be invited to attend a competency-based interview. All offers are subject to passing our pre-employment checks which include a criminal record check, medical and referencing.

Medical Fitness: Due to the nature of the post and rail industry safety requirements there are certain medical & fitness standards that you would require to meet.
