Job Outline
Basic Purpose
IES are a leading UK-based provider of Field Service Engineering Resources supporting a wide array of Semiconductor Manufacturing Equipment within the Manufacturing, Research and Scientific Development industries.
Based in your home region, you will be responsible for Installation, De-Installation, De-Contamination, Hook-Up, Commissioning, Repair and Maintenance. Plus, based on your background possibly some Process Diagnosis / Development works in support of customer equipment sets and their associated processes.
Your work will involve extensive travel throughout the UK, Europe, and the Rest of the World, as required, to deliver Semiconductor Maintenance, Repair, Servicing and Process Diagnostic Services at our customer sites.
In addition to Field Service and Process Support works, you will also provide any necessary training services to our customers to ensure safe operation, maintenance, and processing of materials at their sites.
The role requires regular travel to customer sites worldwide and will only suit candidates who are able and willing to commit to regular periods spent away from home.
Qualifications & Experience
Candidates will ideally be time-served craftsmen possessing either ONC/HNC/HND/Degree in Engineering and are required to possess in-depth Semiconductor Equipment Repair and Maintenance and/or Process Engineering experience in any of the following areas:
- Ion Implantation
- Diffusion / CVD Furnaces
- Wet Etch, Dry (Plasma) Etch
- Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD)
- Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) / Sputtering Systems
- Photolithography, Chemical Mechanical Polish (CMP)
- Rapid Thermal Processing and Metrology (SEM, XRF, Film Thickness Measurement, AFM)
- Other areas as required or benefitting.
A field service engineer should hold an intermediate to high level of knowledge on at least one set of systems. Being able to complete all PM's. Being able to troubleshoot 95% of all issues. Capable of leading and completing decommissioning and deinstallation of a system. Capable of supporting the installation and startup of the system.

Requirements
The candidate should be able to demonstrate the following experience at a customer site:
- Evaluate, analyze, diagnose and troubleshoot technical equipment problems
- Repair and modify equipment
- Evaluate equipment to determine the type and extent of problems
- Repair of system-level issues
- Prepare field service reports on customer support activity and provide documentation to other supporting functions on re-occurring issues
- Crosstrain and assist other field service engineers as appropriate
- The nature of work requires that FSEs work independently; only occasionally requiring guidance from management
- Contribute to the capturing, re-use, collaboration, and improvement of knowledge using available systems.
- Provide onsite or local training to customer employees for Level beginner to expert.
- Can provide remote – telephone or online meeting support to customers. Being able to diagnose and troubleshoot remotely.
- May be required to complete other business activities on behalf of the company from time to time in line with identified skills, competencies and experience
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in IT skills, including all Microsoft Office systems, in particular intermediate Excel capability
- Ability to work autonomously and use initiative to resolve issues, but escalate problems or questions as appropriate
- Excellent planning and time management skills with ability to consistently meet deadlines
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships across the Company
- Delivery Focused.
- Quality of records and paperwork (presentation, accuracy, timeliness and completeness) in line with company expectations and high standards.
- Expense management, employees can manage their own expenses within company budgetary guidelines. Operating efficiently at the lowest cost.
- Employees are comfortable and able to interface with the customer to describe technical issues with clarity.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude whilst on customer/clients' sites.

Candidates must be eligible to work and live within any of the following; The UK, Any European Country (Germany, Ireland, France, Austria, Poland, etc), US, Taiwan, South Korea, China, Vietnam, The Philippines, Mexico, Sweden, Denmark, and / or Russia and hold a full and valid driving license for their country of residence.
Training, Education & Experience
Experienced and proficient with multiple tools to ensure competent, safe use including but not limited to:
- Standard tools in a field service engineers toolbox.
- Multi-meters
- Oscilloscopes
- Wave generators
- AC/DC PSUs
- Others as required.
Special Working Conditions
Additional and/or unsociable hours may be necessary when required.
Early starts and late finishes are not uncommon.
Travel away from home and abroad required.
