Seminar Assistant
We are looking for an organised, proactive and confident administrator to join the General Practice Education Group (GPEG) as a Seminar Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality clinical teaching for University of Cambridge medical students, working as part of a supportive and collaborative team within the Department of Public Health and Primary Care.
GPEG organises and delivers General Practice seminar teaching and placements for more than 900 clinical students across the East of England. The post holder will work closely with colleagues in the GPEG administrative team, the seminar lead, Educators, and GP practices to help ensure that seminar teaching is well planned, well supported and delivered effectively throughout the academic year.
Responsibilities
- Coordinating seminar arrangements
- Supporting the preparation and maintenance of teaching materials
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders
- Maintaining accurate records
- Collating feedback
- Supporting facilitator peer review processes
- Assisting with event planning, including the annual GP conference
- Providing flexible administrative support across the team during busy periods
- Contributing to the development of efficient, student-focused administrative processes

Requirements
- Strong administrative, organisational and communication skills
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to manage a varied workload
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel and Word
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues, students, clinicians, teachers and external partners
- Experience of supporting events or seminars for large groups
- Experience of working in an academic or higher education environment would be advantageous
Location
The successful candidate will be based in the Department of Public Health and Primary Care at the East Forvie Building, University Forvie Site, Robinson Way, Cambridge Biomedical Campus, Cambridge CB2 0SR. The University supports hybrid working where the requirements of the role allow, although this post includes seminar delivery and other activities that will require attendance on University premises and at teaching sessions.
