English Teacher (SEN) - Ongoing Contract

Location: Handsworth, Birmingham
Hours: 40 Hours per Week
Contract Type: Ongoing Contract

Linq Education is recruiting on behalf of a specialist school in Birmingham for an experienced and passionate English Teacher to join their team on an ongoing contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated teacher who is passionate about supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). You will play a key role in helping students build confidence, develop essential literacy skills, and achieve their full potential within a supportive specialist setting.

The Role

As an English Teacher, you will deliver engaging and inclusive lessons to KS3 and KS4 students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), adapting your teaching approach to meet individual learning needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality English lessons to KS3 and KS4 pupils.
  • Plan and adapt learning to support individual student needs and curriculum requirements.
  • Promote reading, writing, communication, and literacy development across the curriculum.
  • Assess, monitor, and track student progress, using data to inform planning and interventions.
  • Provide constructive feedback and set achievable targets for student success.
  • Support students with a range of SEND, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
  • Create a positive, engaging, and structured learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and parents/carers to achieve the best outcomes for students.
  • Contribute to school improvement initiatives and wider school activities where appropriate.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience teaching English within a UK school setting.
  • Experience working with students with SEND and/or ASC.
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A flexible, creative, and student-centred approach to teaching.
  • A commitment to inclusive education and safeguarding.
  • A SEND qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.
