About The Role

Ossett Academy are seeking to appoint a proactive and dedicated SEN Learning Mentor to provide tailored one-to-one support for pupils with additional learning needs. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in promoting inclusion, by working closely with the Lead Learning Mentors and the SENCo to deliver one-to-one support and targeted interventions to an identified pupil. The role involves fostering academic progress, enhancing wellbeing, and empowering pupils to develop the skills, confidence, and independence needed to succeed both in school and beyond.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, adapting, and sourcing high-quality resources tailored to pupils’ individual learning needs, enabling them to access the curriculum effectively and achieve their full potential.

The postholder will play a key role in supporting pupils' social, emotional, physical, and welfare needs by providing high-quality pastoral care and practical assistance, including first aid support.

This position is temporary to support a pupil on a one-to-one basis for the duration of the time they remain a pupil at Ossett Academy, and continue to require support.

The working pattern for the position is Monday to Friday 8.15am to 3.15pm.

About You

The successful candidate will be…

  • NVQ Level 3 Qualified or able to demonstrate a comparable level of relevant experience.
  • Knowledgeable about the development of numeracy and literacy skills, and the techniques required to support pupils in acquiring them.
  • Capable of managing a range of tasks efficiently and applying effective organisational skills.
  • Skilled in establishing effective working relationships with colleagues and external agencies.
  • Committed to inspiring, engaging, and motivating young people, helping them to overcome barriers to learning, build resilience, and achieve their full potential.
