A welcoming SEN school in Moston is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistant to join their team. The school provides a supportive, structured and nurturing environment for pupils with a range of additional needs, ensuring every pupil receives the personalised support they need to thrive.
The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting pupils throughout the school day, helping them access learning, develop their communication and social skills, and build their confidence and independence. You will work closely with teachers and the wider support team to provide consistent, high-quality support.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN and additional needs
- Supporting pupils to access learning and participate in classroom activities
- Helping pupils develop their communication, social and emotional skills
- Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
- Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Assisting pupils with their individual learning and development targets
- Encouraging pupils to develop confidence, independence and life skills
- Working closely with teachers and support staff to provide consistent support
- Supporting pupils during transitions, break times and other activities throughout the school day

The Successful Applicant Will
- Have experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEN, school, care or support setting
- Have a patient, calm and nurturing approach
- Be confident supporting children with communication, behavioural and emotional needs
- Be reliable, resilient and able to work effectively as part of a team
- Have strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Have the right to work in the UK and full-time availability
- Previous experience supporting pupils with SEN is desirable
- Relevant SEN, care or Supporting Teaching and Learning qualifications are desirable but not essential
