Learning Support Assistant

Learning Support Assistant role offers a deeply rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of learners by fostering independence, promoting personal growth, and supporting inclusive education.

As a vital member of the learning support team, you will work collaboratively with educators and families to create a nurturing, person-centered environment where every learner feels valued, respected, and empowered. By modelling positive communication, encouraging self-reliance, and delivering tailored support, you will help learners build essential life skills and confidence. This position is ideal for someone who is compassionate, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement, with a genuine passion for helping others thrive both academically and personally.

  • Provide a coherent and integrated support structure, which meets the needs of individual learners.
  • To act as a role model for learners to reinforce appropriate communication and social skills.
  • Assist, guide and encourage learners to be as independent as possible.
  • Work in close partnership with teachers to provide a coherent, person-centred learning experience.

Responsibilities And Accountabilities

  • Support the planning of person-centred learning activities and develop an understanding of the specific needs of the learners to be supported.
  • Deliver structured independence skills activities adjusting activities to learner responses through the enrichment programme.
  • Establish a constructive relationship with learners and their parents/carers.
  • Promote good behaviour at all times, dealing promptly with conflicts and incidents in line with established policy and encourage learners to take responsibility for their own behaviour.
  • ILS Pathway will prepare and produce materials with teachers in the delivery of an innovative and accessible curriculum.
  • ILS Pathway will provide one-to-one and group support for learners under the direction of the teacher or team leader.
  • Support and encourage effective and appropriate communication at all times, ensuring that students are advocated and supported to achieve their potential.
