Help a Child Feel Confident, Included and Ready to Learn
Sometimes the biggest difference in a child's school experience comes from having one person who understands how they learn, recognises when they need support and knows when to encourage them to take the next step independently.
Liberty Woodland School is looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to provide consistent one-to-one support for a child with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
This is much more than helping a pupil complete classroom activities. You'll build a positive, trusting relationship with one child and support them throughout their school day - helping them access learning, communicate, manage emotions, develop friendships and become increasingly independent.
If you're patient, observant and enjoy seeing children grow in confidence, this is an opportunity to make a genuine difference every day.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll work closely with the pupil, their teachers and our SENDCo to provide support that reflects their individual strengths, needs and interests.
Your Role Will Include
- Providing consistent one-to-one support throughout the school day.
- Building a trusting relationship that helps the child feel safe, understood and included.
- Supporting learning in the classroom and through outdoor, practical and creative activities.
- Helping the pupil understand routines and manage transitions during the day.
- Encouraging communication and positive interactions with other children.
- Supporting emotional regulation using calm and consistent approaches.
- Adapting activities and resources to make learning more accessible.
- Following strategies within the child's individual support plan.
- Encouraging independence rather than automatically doing things for the child.
- Observing progress and sharing useful insights with teachers and the SENDCo.
- Celebrating achievements and helping the child recognise their own progress.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
What Might Your First Few Weeks Look Like?
Your first priority won't be changing anything. It will be getting to know the child.
You'll spend time learning about their interests, strengths, communication style, routines and the situations they may find more challenging.
As trust develops, you'll begin supporting them across classroom learning, outdoor activities, creative projects, social situations and everyday school routines.
You'll work alongside teachers and the SENDCo to understand their individual support plan and identify the approaches that help them engage most successfully.
Gradually, you'll see the moments that make this role so rewarding - joining an activity independently, communicating something confidently, managing a transition more easily, interacting positively with another child or simply feeling increasingly comfortable and secure at school.
We'd Love to Hear From You If You
- Have experience supporting children with Autism, SEND or additional needs.
- Are calm, patient and naturally encouraging.
- Understand that behaviour is often a form of communication.
- Enjoy building positive relationships with children.
- Can adapt your approach rather than expecting every child to learn in the same way.
- Know when to provide support and when to step back and encourage independence.
- Communicate confidently and sensitively with colleagues and families.
- Enjoy being part of a collaborative team.
- Believe every child should feel valued and included within their school community.
