Job Purpose

The SEN Support Coordinator will work as part of the Southwark Resource Centre team, supporting the delivery of high-quality, person-centred services across the centre, sister locations, and community settings.

The post holder will coordinate and support services for children, young people, and adults with a range of needs, including learning disabilities, autism, sensory needs, physical disabilities, dementia, and other age-related conditions. Working within statutory and non-statutory frameworks, the role will ensure services are delivered in line with relevant legislation, safeguarding requirements, SEND guidance, and best practice.

The role will provide leadership and guidance to staff, supporting the delivery of individualised, outcome-focused support that promotes independence, wellbeing, resilience, and positive risk-taking. The post holder will embed a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approach within practice, ensuring support plans are effective, reviewed regularly, and centred around the needs and aspirations of each individual.

The SEN Support Coordinator will support the Centre Manager in the effective running of the service, including staff management, safeguarding, quality assurance, health and safety, and partnership working with professionals, families, carers, and community services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Centre Manager in the delivery of safe, effective, and person-centred services across the Resource Centre, sister locations, and community settings.
  • Lead, supervise, and support staff teams to deliver high-quality, outcome-focused support that promotes independence, inclusion, and wellbeing.
  • Ensure staff understand and apply safeguarding procedures, risk management practices, and relevant statutory frameworks, deputising for the Designated Safeguarding Lead when required.
  • Monitor compliance with Adult Social Care policies, SEND guidance, the SEN Code of Practice, and organisational procedures.
  • Develop, coordinate, and oversee engaging programmes of activities that support learning, skills development, community participation, and carer respite.
  • Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion by ensuring services and workplace practices are inclusive, respectful, and free from discrimination.
  • Provide effective line management, supervision, and performance support to staff, including contributing to recruitment, induction, and staff development.
  • Support staff competency development and address performance, conduct, or training needs in line with organisational procedures.
  • Develop, implement, and review person-centred support plans, including Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans and SMART outcome goals.
  • Monitor service outcomes, maintain accurate records, and provide reports and updates to the Centre Manager as required.
  • Ensure information systems and documentation are maintained accurately and support effective monitoring of individual progress.
  • Promote safe service delivery through effective health and safety practices, including risk assessments, incident management, transport arrangements, and building safety.
  • Support individuals with functional tasks where required, ensuring dignity, respect, and best practice are maintained at all times.
  • Build effective working relationships with SEND and Social Care professionals, NHS colleagues, community services, families, carers, and partner organisations.
  • Support the planning and delivery of safe and meaningful community-based activities that promote inclusion and independence.
  • Deputise for the Centre Manager when required, including supporting effective resource management and monitoring team expenditure.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
