The Fitzroy Academy are looking for an experienced SEN Teacher to start in January 2027.
Are you an inspirational, enthusiastic qualified teacher with a proven track record of success, looking to transform the lives of children and young people with Autism, Learning Disabilities, and associated complex needs?
We are looking for an experienced SEN teacher who has secure knowledge of supporting young people with SLD working at early developmental levels of learning.
Our school offers children and young people a small, nurturing environment where they are enabled to engage positively with their learning. All of our staff are trained in Reflective Therapeutic Intervention, to ensure a consistent approach to our positive behaviour support. This compliments our bespoke approach to the holistic development of our students; academically, socially, and emotionally.
We are looking for passionate, innovative and enthusiastic teachers to complement our team who:
- Have high expectations and a commitment to providing the best possible education for all children and young people.
- Are excellent classroom practitioners with the ability to create innovative learning experiences.
- Have the ability to make adaptions to teaching methods and approaches so that all children and young people are engaged and challenged with functional and developmentally appropriate targets.
- Have the ability to be flexible, dynamic, well organised, and be willing to reflect on your own practice.
- Have experience in supporting children and young people with autism and learning difficulties as well as vulnerable children (those who might be looked after), by delivering individualised programmes of education, tailored to the needs of each student.
- Work well as part of the team and inspire and support other staff.

We would particularly welcome applications from teachers who have previous experience of working with students with autism, LD, MLD, complex needs, and behaviours that challenge. The post will require the successful applicant to demonstrate high levels of emotional resilience and a calm, positive approach when dealing with behaviour.
