We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teacher to join a specialist SEN school in Carshalton (SM5), supporting students with a range of complex and additional needs.
The school caters for students with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced SEN Teacher to work within a nurturing and inclusive environment, supporting students' academic, social, emotional and personal development.
About The Role
As an SEN Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging, differentiated and highly personalised lessons based on the individual needs, abilities and EHCP outcomes of your students.
Key Responsibilities
As An SEN Teacher, You Will
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual student needs.
- Adapt teaching and learning for students with SLD, PMLD, ASD and SEMH.
- Develop personalised learning programmes based on EHCP outcomes and individual learning goals.
- Use creative, sensory and practical teaching approaches to engage learners.
- Monitor, assess and record student progress, identifying appropriate next steps.
- Contribute to EHCP reviews, individual learning plans and other relevant documentation.
- Support students to develop communication, independence, social and life skills alongside their academic development.
- Work closely with Teaching Assistants and support staff to provide consistent and effective learning support.
- Collaborate with therapists and other professionals to meet students' wider needs.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with students and provide a calm, structured learning environment.
- Promote positive behaviour and support students' emotional and social development.
- Maintain high expectations while recognising and celebrating individual achievements.
- Communicate effectively with parents, carers and professionals regarding student progress and development.
- Contribute to school meetings, training and the wider life of the school.

About You
The successful SEN Teacher will have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND and/or complex needs.
- Experience supporting students with ASD, SEMH, SLD and/or PMLD is desirable.
- A strong understanding of personalised and differentiated teaching.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- The ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet a wide range of learning needs.
- A patient, calm, resilient and compassionate approach.
- The ability to build strong and trusting relationships with students.
- A commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and positive outcomes for every learner.
- A willingness to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
