We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teacher to join a specialist SEN school in Slough, supporting pupils aged 4-11 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and a range of additional learning needs.
This is an exciting opportunity for an adaptable and compassionate SEN Teacher to deliver engaging, highly personalised lessons that support pupils academic progress, emotional wellbeing, confidence, behaviour and independence.
About The Role
As an SEN Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging, differentiated and accessible lessons tailored to the individual needs, abilities and learning styles of primary-aged pupils with SEMH and additional needs.
Key Responsibilities
As An SEN Teacher, You Will
- Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons for pupils aged 4-11.
- Adapt lessons, resources and teaching approaches to meet individual needs and learning styles.
- Support pupils with SEMH needs to access learning and make meaningful progress.
- Create a safe, structured, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
- Use positive and trauma-informed approaches to support engagement and emotional regulation.
- Develop personalised learning opportunities based on individual strengths, needs and interests.
- Support pupils to develop communication, social, emotional and life skills.
- Establish clear routines and consistent expectations to support positive behaviour.
- Monitor, assess and record pupil progress, identifying appropriate next steps.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils and promote positive behaviour.
- Support pupils with emotional regulation and help them engage positively with learning.
- Work closely with Teaching Assistants and wider support staff to provide consistent and effective support.
- Contribute to EHCP outcomes, individual learning plans and personalised targets.
- Maintain high expectations while recognising and celebrating individual achievements.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents/carers and external professionals where appropriate.
- Contribute to school meetings, training, professional development and the wider life of the school.

About You

The successful SEN Teacher will have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience working with pupils with SEN and/or SEMH is highly desirable.
- A strong understanding of SEMH and inclusive teaching approaches.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- The ability to differentiate and adapt lessons to meet a wide range of learning needs.
- A patient, calm, compassionate and resilient approach.
- The ability to build strong, positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
- A creative and flexible approach to teaching and learning.
- An understanding of emotional regulation, behaviour support and positive reinforcement.
- A commitment to supporting pupils academic, emotional, social and personal development.
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and promoting positive outcomes for every learner.
