We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teacher to join a specialist SEN school in Slough, supporting students aged 4:19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and a range of additional learning needs.
This is an exciting opportunity for an adaptable and compassionate SEN Teacher to deliver engaging, highly personalised lessons that support students academic progress, communication, emotional wellbeing, confidence and independence.
About The Role
As an SEN Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging, differentiated and accessible lessons tailored to the individual needs, abilities and communication styles of students with ASD and additional needs.
Key Responsibilities
As An SEN Teacher, You Will
- Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons for students aged 4:19.
- Adapt lessons, resources and teaching approaches to meet individual needs and learning styles.
- Support students with ASD to access learning and make meaningful progress.
- Create a safe, structured, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Use autism-informed teaching strategies to promote engagement, communication and independence.
- Develop personalised learning opportunities based on individual strengths, needs and interests.
- Support students to develop communication, social, emotional and life skills.
- Use visual supports, structured routines and practical learning approaches where appropriate.
- Monitor, assess and record student progress, identifying appropriate next steps.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with students and promote positive behaviour.
- Support students with sensory needs and help them regulate and engage with learning.
- Work closely with Teaching Assistants and wider support staff to provide consistent and effective support.
- Contribute to EHCP outcomes, individual learning plans and personalised targets.
- Maintain high expectations while recognising and celebrating individual achievements.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents/carers and external professionals where appropriate.
- Contribute to school meetings, training, professional development and the wider life of the school.
- Promote safeguarding, inclusion and the wellbeing of all students.

About You

The successful SEN Teacher will have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience working with students with SEN and/or ASD is highly desirable.
- A strong understanding of autism and inclusive teaching approaches.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- The ability to differentiate and adapt lessons to meet a wide range of learning needs.
- A patient, calm, compassionate and resilient approach.
- The ability to build strong, positive and trusting relationships with students.
- A creative and flexible approach to teaching and learning.
- An understanding of sensory needs and the importance of structured routines.
- A commitment to supporting students academic, communication, emotional and personal development.
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and promoting positive outcomes for every learner.
