SEN Teacher - Prenton, Wirral

We are currently seeking a dedicated and passionate SEN Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Prenton on a full time basis, starting in September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic teacher who is committed to making a lasting difference in the lives of children and young people with additional needs. The school caters for pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and associated communication and learning needs. The school provides a nurturing, inclusive environment where every pupil is supported to achieve their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.
The Role
As an SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, creative, and highly differentiated lessons that meet the individual learning needs of pupils. You will work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, therapists, parents, and the wider multidisciplinary team to create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment where pupils can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils with SEND.
- Develop and implement personalised learning strategies in line with pupils' Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress, adapting teaching approaches to maximise learning outcomes.
- Create a positive, structured, and nurturing classroom environment that promotes engagement, confidence, and independence.
- Support pupils' social, emotional, and behavioural development using positive behaviour management strategies.
- Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, therapists, SENCOs, and other professionals to provide holistic support.
- Build positive relationships with parents and carers, providing regular updates on pupil progress and wellbeing.
- Ensure safeguarding responsibilities are fully met and contribute to the school's commitment to promoting the welfare of all pupils.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, or a genuine passion for developing a career within SEN education.
- Knowledge of a range of SEND, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, MLD, and communication needs.
- Experience of planning and delivering differentiated lessons to meet a wide range of learning abilities.
- A calm, patient, and flexible approach with excellent classroom management skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively alongside colleagues, families, and external agencies.
- A commitment to promoting inclusion and helping every pupil achieve their individual potential.
