Job Title: SEN Teacher
Location: Groveside School, Reading, RG2 7AY
Hours: 37.5 per week | Monday to Friday
Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata) plus a Welcome Bonus of £1000*
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: September 2026

Whether you're an experienced SEN Teacher or a mainstream teacher looking to move into specialist education, you'll be supported every step of the way by an experienced multidisciplinary team committed to helping both pupils and colleagues thrive.

What you will be doing
- Plan and deliver engaging, creative and personalised lessons that inspire every pupil to succeed.
- Adapt teaching to meet individual learning needs, helping pupils achieve their academic, social and emotional goals.
- Monitor, assess and celebrate pupil progress, using personalised learning strategies to maximise outcomes.
- Develop and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs), behaviour plans and personalised learning pathways.
- Create a positive, structured and nurturing classroom where pupils feel safe, motivated and ready to learn.
- Work collaboratively with Learning Support Assistants, therapists, families and the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Support pupils to develop confidence, independence, resilience and positive behaviour.
- Contribute to whole-school improvement and help shape an outstanding specialist learning environment.
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children and young people.

What you will bring
We're looking for someone who has:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- A genuine passion for helping children and young people with SEND achieve their full potential.
- Creativity, enthusiasm and the ability to inspire learners through engaging teaching.
- Strong relationship-building skills and a nurturing, patient approach.
- Resilience, adaptability and confidence working in a dynamic specialist environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- A Full UK Driving Licence.
Experience within specialist education is welcome but isn't essential. If you're a passionate mainstream teacher looking for a rewarding career where you can make a bigger impact, we'll provide the support and development you need to succeed.
About Us
Groveside School is a Special Educational Needs School for Pupils 7 - 16 years old with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs. Our school opened in September 2024 and will cater for 60 pupils. To the ideal candidate, Groveside School offers the following opportunities:
