SEN Teacher – Science
Location: Newark
Salary: Teacher Pay Scales
Contract: Full-time, permanent
We are recruiting a Science Teacher for an independent specialist day school near Newark, supporting pupils aged 9–17 with a range of additional needs, including SEMH, autism (ASC), ADHD, and attachment difficulties.
We’re looking for someone who can think outside the box, bring learning to life, and adapt their approach to engage pupils who may have struggled in traditional education. We’re more interested in finding the right person for the role than someone who simply ticks every box on paper. If you’re patient, resilient, creative, and passionate about helping young people succeed, we’d love to hear from you.
The Role
- Plan and deliver engaging, creative Science lessons tailored to individual needs.
- Adapt teaching methods to support different abilities, learning styles, and additional needs.
- Build positive, trusting relationships and create a safe, inclusive learning environment.
- Support pupils’ academic progress, emotional wellbeing, and personal development.
- Promote positive behaviour, follow safeguarding procedures, and work closely with colleagues, families, and external professionals.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
