We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teacher to join a specialist SEMH school in Harlow (CM18), supporting students aged 7-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs and a range of additional needs.
This is an exciting opportunity for an adaptable and compassionate SEN Teacher to deliver engaging, highly personalised lessons that support students academic progress, emotional wellbeing, confidence and independence.
About The Role
As an SEN Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging, differentiated and accessible lessons tailored to the individual needs, abilities and learning styles of students with SEMH and additional needs.
Key Responsibilities
As An SEN Teacher, You Will
- Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons for students aged 7-16.
- Adapt lessons, resources and teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs.
- Create a safe, structured and supportive learning environment.
- Support students with SEMH and a range of additional needs to access learning and make progress.
- Develop personalised learning opportunities that build confidence, resilience and independence.
- Use a range of teaching strategies to engage students and overcome barriers to learning.
- Monitor, assess and record student progress, identifying appropriate next steps.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with students and promote positive behaviour.
- Support students to develop communication, social, emotional and life skills.
- Work closely with Teaching Assistants and wider support staff to provide consistent and effective support.
- Contribute to EHCP outcomes, individual learning plans and personalised targets where appropriate.
- Maintain high expectations while recognising and celebrating individual achievements.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents/carers and external professionals where appropriate.
- Contribute to school meetings, training, professional development and the wider life of the school.
- Promote safeguarding, inclusion and the wellbeing of all students.

About You
The successful SEN Teacher will have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience working with students with SEN, SEMH or additional needs is highly desirable.
- A strong understanding of inclusive and differentiated teaching approaches.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- The ability to adapt lessons to meet a wide range of learning needs and abilities.
- A patient, calm, resilient and compassionate approach.
- The ability to build strong, positive and trusting relationships with students.
- A flexible and creative approach to teaching and learning.
- A commitment to supporting students academic, emotional and personal development.
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and promoting positive outcomes for every learner.
- The resilience and confidence to support students who may display challenging behaviour or experience barriers to learning.
