Are you passionate about making a difference to children with SEND? We’re seeking a caring, patient, and proactive Teaching and Learning Assistant to join our friendly team at Marsh Lane Primary School.
We are seeking a compassionate, skilled Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs, focusing on emotional regulation, curriculum access, and targeted intervention.
The successful candidate will build a trusted, nurturing relationship with the child, using attachment-informed approaches, attuned communication, and co-regulation strategies. You will help the child recognize early signs of dysregulation, offer movement breaks, and provide a calm, secure base within the classroom.

In collaboration with the class teacher, you will support access to learning by offering clear visual scaffolds, step-by-step guidance, and structured routines. This includes helping the child plan and sequence tasks, using tools such as checklists, mind maps, reading windows, and sensory supports.
The role includes delivering daily literacy and phonics intervention, using approaches such as Precision Teaching, paired reading, Colourful Semantics, and Clicker 8. You will also support maths learning using interventions, pre-teaching, and the use of concrete and digital resources.

A key element of the role will be developing the child’s social skills and emotional literacy, supporting friendship groups, facilitating restorative conversations, and helping the child reflect on challenges in a safe, structured way.
You will also help implement the child’s sensory plan, including daily regulation activities, fine motor development, and appropriate handwriting support.
Your work will contribute to long-term outcomes, including improved independence, academic progress in literacy and maths, emotional regulation, and confident participation in school life.
