SEN Teaching Assistant Southampton

Reeson Education is looking for a dependable SEN Teaching Assistant to join our Hampshire talent pool for opportunities across Southampton. This SEN Teaching Assistant advert is aimed at candidates who would like to support children and young people with additional needs while having access to both flexible and longer-term work.

A SEN Teaching Assistant may work with different pupils from one assignment to another, including children who require support with communication, learning, attention, emotional regulation, or social interaction.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, your role is to:

  • Remove barriers to learning
  • Encourage pupils to participate as independently as possible

Day-to-Day SEN Teaching Assistant Duties

The SEN Teaching Assistant May Be Responsible For:

  • Providing focused 1:1 support.
  • Delivering teacher-planned small-group activities.
  • Breaking learning into manageable steps.
  • Using visual prompts or structured routines where appropriate.
  • Supporting communication and interaction.
  • Helping pupils remain engaged during lessons.
  • Following individual strategies and EHCP outcomes.
  • Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Communicating observations to teachers and SEN staff.
