SEN Teaching Assistant: ASD Resource Base (EYFS)

A welcoming Brent primary school is seeking an experienced and nurturing SEN Teaching Assistant to join its specialist EYFS ASD Resource Base from September 2026.
Your Role As a SEN Teaching Assistant
- Support a small group of six children with Autism (ASD) throughout the school day within the school's specialist resource base.
- Work collaboratively with two other Teaching Assistants to provide a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment.
- Deliver learning activities planned by the EYFS Lead, adapting your approach to meet individual communication, sensory, and developmental needs.
- Encourage children's communication, independence, social interaction, and emotional regulation through play-based learning and structured activities.
- Support children with transitions, personal care (where required), sensory regulation, and daily routines.
- Use positive behavior strategies and consistent approaches to help children feel secure and ready to learn.
- Build strong relationships with pupils, parents, and the wider school team to ensure every child reaches their potential.

Who You Are
- Patient, nurturing, resilient, and proactive.
- Experienced supporting children with Autism (ASD), ideally within an EYFS, SEND, or specialist setting.
- Confident working as part of a close-knit team and following guidance from senior staff.
- Knowledgeable about sensory regulation, visual supports, and communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton, or Attention Autism (desirable).
- Calm under pressure, with the ability to respond consistently to challenging behavior when required.
- Passionate about helping children develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning.
