This SEN Teaching Assistant role in Plaistow offers the opportunity to develop that experience first-hand.
You'll work alongside experienced education professionals, supporting children with a range of special educational needs and gaining practical insight into inclusive and specialist support.
What you'll learn - and contribute
This is an active classroom role.
You'll support individual pupils and small groups, helping children access learning in ways that work for them. You'll observe experienced teachers, learn different support strategies and gradually build your confidence working with a range of needs.

- Providing focused one-to-one support during lessons
- Leading activities with small groups
- Adapting tasks and resources for individual pupils
- Reinforcing learning introduced by the class teacher
- Supporting communication and interaction
- Helping pupils manage behaviour and emotional regulation
- Encouraging independence and participation
- Observing pupil progress and sharing feedback with teaching staff
- Building positive and appropriate relationships with children
- Working collaboratively with teachers and other support professionals

You do need to be genuinely interested in learning, comfortable working closely with children and able to respond calmly when a pupil needs a different approach.
We're Looking For Someone With
- Experience working with children or young people
- Good communication and relationship-building skills
- Patience and emotional maturity
- An adaptable approach to different learning needs
- Confidence working as part of a classroom team
- An interest in SEND and inclusive education
- A willingness to learn from experienced colleagues and develop professionally
Previous SEND experience would be beneficial.
The Details
- Location: Plaistow, East London
- Contract: Full-Time
- Pay: £95 per day
You'll join a supportive education setting where you'll have the opportunity to develop practical skills and gain valuable experience working directly with children with additional needs.
