SEN Teaching Assistant - ASD

Location: Croydon, London
Salary: £93 - £105 per day, depending on qualifications and experience.
Contract: Temporary; full-time availability preferred, working pattern to be agreed
Start date: 05/10/2026
Hours: Term time - 8:30 - 3:30 - school day

A predictable routine, a clear instruction and the right encouragement can make a real difference to an autistic pupil’s school day. Transparency Education is recruiting a SEN Teaching Assistant to provide autism support in Croydon. You will work alongside the class teacher and SENCO, helping pupils access learning, communicate their needs and develop independence. Support may be delivered one-to-one or in a small group, depending on the placement.

Responsibilities

  • Break tasks into manageable steps and reinforce instructions
  • Use visual timetables and communication resources agreed by the school
  • Help pupils prepare for transitions and manage sensory demands
  • Encourage participation in lessons, play and social activities
  • Record observations and share progress or concerns with the teaching team
  • Follow individual support plans and safeguarding procedures
