SEN Teaching Assistant
Barnet, North London
Primary school
Long-term, full-time role through agency
ASAP start
Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:00pm
Supporting a Year 3 pupil with ASD and ADHD
Providing 1:1 support with learning and classroom activities
Supporting the pupil to remain focused, engaged and motivated
Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, You Will
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 3 pupil with ASD and ADHD.
- Support the pupil with their learning and academic development.
- Adapt activities and approaches to meet the pupils individual needs.
- Help the pupil remain focused and engaged during lessons.
- Build a strong, positive and trusting relationship with the pupil.
- Support attention, concentration and participation in classroom activities.
- Encourage independence and confidence with learning.
- Provide consistent support throughout the school day.
- Be proactive and responsive to the pupils needs.
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team.
SEN Teaching Assistant: About You
The Successful SEN Teaching Assistant Will Have
- Previous experience supporting children with ASD, ADHD or additional needs, desirable.
- Experience providing 1:1 support, desirable.
- A calm, patient and positive approach.
- Plenty of energy and enthusiasm, this is a role where you need to be on your feet and on the ball.
- A proactive approach and the ability to think on your feet.
- Ability to keep an energetic pupil engaged and motivated.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
- A flexible and adaptable approach.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
