We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Tamworth. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and making a meaningful difference to their learning and development.

Working alongside experienced teaching staff, you'll play a key role in creating a positive, inclusive learning environment where every pupil has the opportunity to thrive.

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them to access learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential.

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND
  • Supporting children with additional needs, including Autism (ASD), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and moderate learning difficulties
  • Assisting the class teacher with lesson preparation and classroom activities
  • Implementing individual learning plans and behaviour support strategies
  • Encouraging pupil engagement, independence, and confidence
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and parents/carers
  • Supporting pupils with emotional, social, and behavioural needs where required

About You

We're looking for someone who is patient, adaptable, and committed to helping every child succeed.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN/SEND
  • Experience within a school, care, or support setting
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • A nurturing, resilient, and positive approach
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • The ability to adapt your support to meet individual pupil needs

Desirable

  • A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
