Position: SEN Teaching Assistant

Start Date: September 2026

Pay Rate: £95-£110 per day DOE

Cover People are working in partnership with a specialist school in Oldham to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for September 2026. The school provides education for pupils who have experienced barriers to mainstream education, offering a nurturing and inclusive environment where every young person is supported to re-engage with learning and achieve success. The school's vision is centred on delivering a holistic educational experience, combining academic progress with the development of personal, social, and emotional skills. The Role

  • Support pupils with a range of social, emotional and additional learning needs throughout the school day
  • Work alongside teachers to deliver engaging and personalised learning activities
  • Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage pupils to re-engage with education
  • Promote independence, resilience, and emotional wellbeing
  • Support positive behaviour using consistent, relationship-focused approaches
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for every pupil

We're Looking For

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, SEMH, or challenging behaviour is desirable
  • A patient, calm, and resilient approach
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • The ability to build positive relationships based on trust and mutual respect
  • A genuine commitment to inclusive education and helping every pupil reach their potential
  • Relevant Teaching Assistant qualifications are desirable but not essential
