SEN Teaching Assistant (ASD)
Salary: £90–£100 per day
Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary
Start date: 1 September 2026
Location: Lambeth, London, SW8
Salary is based on experience and qualifications. Higher rates apply to candidates with significant experience and/or qualifications.

Transparency Education is recruiting a committed SEN Teaching Assistant (ASD) for a welcoming school in Lambeth. This long-term position offers the chance to build a consistent relationship with a pupil or small group and make a visible difference to their confidence, communication and engagement.
Working as the SEN Teaching Assistant (ASD), you will collaborate with teachers, the SENCO and other professionals to deliver structured, pupil-centred support.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with autism.
- Use visual timetables, clear routines and appropriate communication strategies.
- Support learning, emotional regulation, social interaction and independence.
- Help pupils manage transitions and changes to their school day.
- Record progress and share relevant observations with the class teacher and SENCO.
- Promote inclusion while maintaining high expectations.

Requirements
The successful SEN Teaching Assistant (ASD) will ideally have:
- Recent experience supporting children or young people with autism.
- A calm, patient and consistent approach.
- Good knowledge of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
- The ability to follow individual education, behaviour or support plans.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A relevant qualification or autism training, although substantial practical experience will also be considered.
