Special Needs Teaching Assistant
Position: Special Needs Teaching Assistant (Year Three Pupil)
Hours: 25 hours per week. Monday - Friday 10.00 - 3.00 (half an hour for lunch).
Location: Stithians Community Primary School
Start Date: 4th September 2026

About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to provide two-to-one support for a Year Three pupil with ASC who is non-speaking. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a significant impact on a child's development in a supportive and collaborative environment.
As part of a team, you will work in partnership with another Teaching Assistant to ensure that the pupil’s educational and emotional needs are met. The role requires someone who is not only hardworking but also patient and adaptable, with the ability to create a positive and nurturing learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored support to a Year Three pupil with ASC in a classroom setting.
- Collaborate closely with another TA to deliver consistent and effective two-to-one support.
- Implement and follow individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies.
- Use creative and proactive approaches to engage the pupil in learning activities.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages the pupil’s social and academic growth.
- Communicate effectively with the class teacher, SENCO, and parents regarding the pupil's progress and needs.
Qualifications and Experience
- Previous experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) is essential.
- Experience supporting non-speaking children is highly desirable.
- A calm, patient, and nurturing demeanour with a sense of humour.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and on your own initiative.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
