SEN Teaching Assistant – Dorking, Surrey

Location: Dorking, Surrey
Pay: £100–£115 per day
Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term
Start Date: September 2026

A welcoming SEN school in Dorking, Surrey is looking for a caring and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and wants to make a real difference in their educational, social, and emotional development.

The Role

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with additional needs, including SEND, ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and communication difficulties.
  • Support pupils with accessing the curriculum and completing learning activities.
  • Work closely with teachers and SEN staff to deliver personalised support plans.
  • Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence, and positive learning behaviours.
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation and social development.
  • Use appropriate strategies to promote positive behaviour and engagement.
  • Assist with classroom routines, transitions, and wider school activities.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH, ASD, or complex needs is beneficial.
  • Patient, compassionate, and understanding of individual needs.
  • Confident supporting pupils with a range of abilities and behaviours.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Able to build positive relationships with pupils and encourage their development.
  • Reliable, enthusiastic, and committed to making a difference.
  • Passionate about supporting children’s learning, wellbeing, and personal growth.
