SEN Teaching Assistant – Dorking, Surrey
Location: Dorking, Surrey
Pay: £100–£115 per day
Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term
Start Date: September 2026
A welcoming SEN school in Dorking, Surrey is looking for a caring and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and wants to make a real difference in their educational, social, and emotional development.
The Role
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with additional needs, including SEND, ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and communication difficulties.
- Support pupils with accessing the curriculum and completing learning activities.
- Work closely with teachers and SEN staff to deliver personalised support plans.
- Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence, and positive learning behaviours.
- Support pupils with emotional regulation and social development.
- Use appropriate strategies to promote positive behaviour and engagement.
- Assist with classroom routines, transitions, and wider school activities.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH, ASD, or complex needs is beneficial.
- Patient, compassionate, and understanding of individual needs.
- Confident supporting pupils with a range of abilities and behaviours.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Able to build positive relationships with pupils and encourage their development.
- Reliable, enthusiastic, and committed to making a difference.
- Passionate about supporting children’s learning, wellbeing, and personal growth.
- Graduates looking to begin a career in SEN education are encouraged to apply.
