A welcoming and supportive primary school in Camborne is looking to appoint a dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant to join their experienced team. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to work closely with pupils who require additional support, helping them develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning within a nurturing educational environment.

The Role

As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will provide tailored support to pupils with a variety of special educational needs, ensuring they are fully supported throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Delivering one-to-one and small-group interventions to support learning and development
  • Assisting class teachers in adapting activities to meet individual pupil needs
  • Supporting pupils with communication, social skills, and emotional wellbeing
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in classroom activities
  • Helping pupils build confidence, resilience, and independence
  • Following individual education plans and implementing agreed support strategies
  • Monitoring pupil progress and reporting observations to teaching staff
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and external professionals
  • Providing personal care support where necessary, maintaining dignity and respect
  • Contributing to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

Your role will be instrumental in helping pupils access education and achieve meaningful progress both academically and personally.

About You

We are seeking an individual who:

  • Holds a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Education, Childcare, Supporting Teaching and Learning, or a related discipline
  • Has previous experience working with children with SEN, either in schools or similar settings
  • Demonstrates patience, understanding, and a child-centred approach
  • Has knowledge of SEND practices and effective behaviour support strategies
  • Possesses strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Is adaptable, proactive, and committed to supporting individual pupil needs
  • Understands the importance of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one
