A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Camborne is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join its supportive team. The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide targeted support to pupils with a range of special educational needs, ensuring they can fully engage with learning and develop confidence both inside and outside the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering one-to-one and small-group interventions to support pupil progress
- Assisting teachers in adapting lessons and activities to meet individual learning needs
- Supporting pupils with communication, emotional wellbeing, and social development
- Encouraging positive behaviour and active participation in school life
- Helping pupils build confidence, resilience, and independence
- Following individual support plans and implementing agreed learning strategies
- Monitoring pupil engagement and reporting observations to teaching staff
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and external professionals
- Supporting pupils during classroom activities, breaktimes, and school events
- Providing personal care support when required while maintaining dignity and respect
- Promoting a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment

About You
We are looking for an individual who:
- Holds a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Education, Childcare, Supporting Teaching and Learning, or a related field
- Has experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
- Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a child-centred approach
- Has knowledge of SEND practices and positive behaviour support strategies
- Possesses strong communication and teamwork skills
- Is adaptable, proactive, and committed to meeting individual pupil needs
- Understands safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one
