Looking for flexible teaching work where you can focus on one learner at a time?
All Inclusive Education is expanding its Alternative Provision team across West Sussex. We are looking for experienced teachers and tutors to provide one-to-one tuition to children and young people who are currently unable to access education in a mainstream setting.
Referrals are offered according to your subject expertise, location and availability, giving you the flexibility to accept work that fits around your existing commitments.
Our learners have a wide range of needs and circumstances, including SEND, SEMH, medical needs and disrupted education. Some need help to re-engage with learning; others are working towards Functional Skills, GCSEs or other qualifications.
We are particularly interested in hearing from English, Maths and Science teachers and tutors, although applications from other subject specialists are welcome.
The role
You will:
- Deliver one-to-one tuition in the learner’s home or an appropriate community setting.
- Plan engaging lessons that meet each learner’s needs, starting point and agreed outcomes.
- Adapt teaching to support a wide range of learning needs and barriers to education.
- Build positive professional relationships that encourage engagement, confidence and progress.
- Maintain accurate session, attendance and progress records.
- Liaise professionally with families and other professionals where required.
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding and professional conduct.

We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience teaching or tutoring children or young people.
- Can engage learners who may have found education difficult or experienced disrupted education.
- Has a good understanding of SEND and the barriers that can affect engagement and learning.
- Can adapt teaching to individual needs and circumstances.
- Is organised, reliable and able to work independently.
- Has excellent communication skills.
- Can travel to learners within West Sussex.
- Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Qualifications and experience
QTS is welcomed but is not essential where applicants have strong relevant teaching or tutoring experience.
Experience of any of the following would be particularly valuable:
- SEND, including dyslexia, autism or ADHD
- SEMH
- Alternative Provision or EOTAS
- Functional Skills
- GCSE teaching
- Supporting learners to re-engage with education

Safeguarding and Safer Recruitment

This role involves regulated activity with children. Successful applicants will be required to complete safer recruitment checks, including an Enhanced DBS check with Children’s Barred List check, verification of identity and right to work, employment history, qualification checks where applicable and satisfactory references.
