Are you passionate about making a difference to children with additional needs? Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for an exciting opportunity to develop your SEND expertise and take on greater responsibility across a whole school?

Landywood Primary School is looking for an exceptional Assistant SENCo Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join Team Landywood and work closely alongside our Inclusion Leader / SENCo in developing and delivering high-quality provision for children with additional needs.

This is not simply a traditional Teaching Assistant role. It is an exciting opportunity to combine working directly with children with a wider role supporting the organisation and coordination of SEND across our school. You will help our Inclusion Team coordinate provision, support annual reviews, maintain high-quality SEND documentation and records, contribute to individual plans, monitor children’s progress and help ensure that children receive the right support at the right time.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Most importantly, your work will make a difference. You will work with children to help identify and overcome barriers to learning, support children who may be finding aspects of school difficult and contribute to approaches that enable every child to access learning, make progress and experience success.

Join a school where inclusion is something we are incredibly proud of. Our recent Ofsted inspection described Landywood as: “A deeply inclusive school with high aspirations for every pupil.”

Inspectors recognised our welcoming and highly supportive environment where “pupils flourish”, alongside staff who are “highly skilled in supporting pupils who face barriers to their learning or wellbeing.”

Our new Assistant SENCo will become an important part of continuing to develop this provision.

We are looking for someone who is organised, proactive, compassionate and ambitious for children. You will need experience of supporting children’s learning and working with pupils with additional needs, alongside excellent communication, organisation and record-keeping skills. Just as importantly, we want someone with a positive “can do” attitude, who enjoys working as part of a team and wants to continue developing their own SEND knowledge and expertise.
