SEND Caseworker at Oaklands
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Oaklands for a SEND Caseworker. The SEND Caseworker is responsible for attending and hosting Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) for learners with SEND attending the College. The postholder ensures statutory compliance, facilitates person-centred annual reviews, maintains accurate records and works collaboratively with learners, families, curriculum teams and local authorities to secure positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend and host EHCP annual review processes across the College, ensuring statutory deadlines are met.
- Facilitate person-centred annual review meetings and produce high-quality review documentation for local authorities.
- Manage a caseload of learners with EHCPs, monitoring progress, attendance, achievement and support arrangements.
- Act as part of a team liaising between the College, local authorities, schools, parents/carers and external agencies regarding EHCP matters.
- Ensure learner voice and Preparation for Adulthood outcomes are central to all review activity and recommendations.
- Monitor the implementation of provision identified within EHCPs and escalate concerns where appropriate.
- Contribute to the consultation process at the college and support your manager with this when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate records and tracking systems to support compliance and quality assurance activities.
- Contribute to inspections, audits and continuous improvement activities relating to SEND provision.
- Produce high quality documents in line with statutory guidance that provide a useful tool to support learners’ needs in college and preparation for adulthood.
- Support learners with/liaison with external agencies regarding learners next steps inside and outside of the college.
- Gather and collate information to evidence needs, track progress towards achieving their outcomes and document the need for changes in support/provision.
- Carry out high quality and robust annual reviews.
- Ensure/provide a compassionate approach to all learners, family members, professionals and staff involved in the annual review process.
- Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of the role.

Is This You
Essential Criteria:
- Level 3 qualification or above in Education, SEND, Social Care, Youth Work, Advice and Guidance or related discipline.
- GCSE English and Mathematics Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent)
- Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and EHCP processes.
- Understanding of person-centred planning and Preparing for Adulthood outcomes.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and data protection requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Ability to analyse information and prepare accurate reports.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and learner management systems.
- Ability to facilitate meetings with multiple stakeholders.

Desirable Criteria:
- Experience of facilitating EHCP annual reviews in Further Education.
- Knowledge of High Needs Funding and local authority SEND processes.
- Experience working with learners aged 16–25 with EHCPs.
