Help Young People Build Their Future. Be the Link Between Education, Opportunity and Adulthood.
For many young people with special educational needs and disabilities, the transition from school into further education, training and adulthood is one of the most important stages of their lives. The support they receive during this period can shape their future opportunities, independence and long-term success.
At Lancashire’s Inclusion Service, we are committed to ensuring that every young person is supported to achieve their ambitions and prepare confidently for adult life. As our new Post-16 SEND Officer, you will play a vital role in guiding young people and their families through this important journey, ensuring their voices, aspirations and outcomes remain at the centre of every decision.
This is a role where your work will have a direct and lasting impact on the lives of young people across Lancashire.
About the Role
As a Post-16 SEND Officer, you will manage a caseload of young people aged 16 to 25, coordinating the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) process and ensuring statutory responsibilities are delivered effectively and within required timescales. You will play a key role in supporting transitions from Year 11 into further education, training, apprenticeships and other pathways, helping young people access the opportunities that best meet their needs and aspirations.
Working closely with young people, families, schools, colleges, training providers and professionals across education, health and care, you will coordinate annual reviews, phased transfers, consultations and placement planning. You will gather and analyse information from a wide range of sources, prepare high-quality EHCPs and recommendations, and ensure Preparation for Adulthood remains central to planning and decision-making.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
