Luma Education Recruitment is pleased to be recruiting for a SEND Functional Skills Tutor to join an outstanding specialist education setting in Totnes, Devon.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Maths, English or Functional Skills teacher/tutor who enjoys working with young people who require a more personalised approach to education.

You'll join a passionate and supportive team where learning goes beyond the classroom. Alongside Functional Skills Maths and English, pupils receive support with life skills, independence and preparation for adulthood, creating a genuinely varied and rewarding teaching environment.

About The Role

  • Deliver Functional Skills Maths and English, from Entry Level through to Level 2
  • Plan engaging lessons around individual abilities, interests and learning goals
  • Adapt teaching for pupils with SEND, autism, learning difficulties and additional needs
  • Support learners with both academic progress and practical life skills
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Monitor progress and contribute to individual learning plans and reviews
  • Work closely with teaching assistants and the wider specialist team
  • Encourage independence, confidence and readiness for future education, employment or adulthood

The Ideal Candidate

We're keen to hear from teachers and tutors with experience in Maths, English or Functional Skills, particularly those who have worked within SEND, specialist education, alternative provision or similar settings.

You'll Be Someone Who Is

  • Experienced supporting pupils with additional needs
  • Passionate about practical and personalised education
  • A strong communicator and positive team player

A relevant teaching or tutoring qualification is desirable, although relevant experience will also be considered.
