Rutland County Council is looking for an enthusiastic, organised and highly motivated SEND, Inclusion and Learning Support Officer to join our SEND, Inclusion & Learning Service. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of the Council's statutory education responsibilities, ensuring that children, young people and families receive effective services and support.
Working within a small but dedicated team, you will contribute to a wide range of education functions including SEND, inclusion, school admissions, early years funding and financial administration. This varied role offers an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working collaboratively, managing information and data, and making a positive difference to outcomes for children and their families across Rutland.
About The Role
As SEND, Inclusion and Learning Support Officer, you will provide effective business and operational support to the SEND, Inclusion & Learning Service and wider Children and Families Directorate. You will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of statutory education duties, maintaining budget monitoring processes and coordinating funding arrangements.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Supporting budget monitoring and financial administration across SEND, Inclusion & Learning services.
- Line managing the Education and Childcare Co-ordinator.
- Overseeing the administration and payment processes for early education and childcare funding.
- Coordinating Free School Meal eligibility checks and entitlement processes.
- Providing operational support and resilience for school admissions.
- Supporting the Head of the Virtual School with grant monitoring and financial oversight.
- Administering Department for Education grant-funded initiatives.

You will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders and contribute to the effective delivery of services that support children, young people and families across Rutland.
Additional Requirements
The successful candidate will be required to undertake a basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Costs for the DBS are covered by Rutland County Council.
About You
We are looking for someone with excellent organisational, communication and administrative skills who can work effectively across a busy and varied service area.
You Will Have
- Experience working in a business support or administrative role supporting senior leaders.
- Proven track record of effective financial administration and budget monitoring.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the preparation of clear and accurate reports, correspondence and meeting notes.
- Strong numeracy skills and attention to detail.
- Experience maintaining electronic filing systems, databases and confidential information.
- Confidence in providing advice and information to customers and stakeholders.
- The ability to build positive working relationships with a wide range of internal and external partners.
- A flexible and collaborative approach, with a commitment to delivering excellent customer service and supporting continuous improvement.
