Job Description
We have a strong team of experienced teachers of SEND, specialist and advanced teaching assistants including those that are ELSA and ELKLAN trained. Our Dog Mentor scheme introduced in September 2026 provides support to many of our students and offers a truly unique support package. Academy teaching assistants form a significant part of our team and provide that 1:1 or small group support to allow all students to access our universal inclusive classrooms. Our SEND Advocacy scheme has allowed the school to collaborate with many external agencies including the Autism Education Trust and Neuroinclusive Education Network, as well as being a key partner in developing the ‘Experts At Hand’ model in Sheffield. The successful candidate is expected to have a strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and statutory safeguarding guidance. The SEND Officer will manage a caseload of EHCPs or high needs SEND Support plans, including those undergoing statutory assessments. The SEND Officer will also line manage our Bridge provision and ELSA assistants, as well as contributing to the CPD offer for staff as appropriate.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Experience of working with students with SEND is essential as is the ability to produce strategies and interventions to assist our more vulnerable students achieve their full potential.
- You will be able to effectively communicate with a wide range of audiences and promote safeguarding and care of students across the whole community.
- Developing and maintaining effective parent-carer relationships is very important in this role as is an understanding of the community the academy serves.
Working full time - 37 hrs per week 40 weeks per year.
Standard working hours between 8am and 4pm daily (3.30pm Friday)
